Intensified Immunisation Programme

CITYWIDE PERIODIC INTENSIFICATION OF ROUTINE IMMUNISATION (PIRI) ACTIVITY

The City of Bulawayo in partnership with CORDAID will be conducting a city wide immunisation for all vaccines that are part of the under-five immunisation schedule. The exercise will be conducted in three rounds on monthly basis consisting of 5 days per round. The intensified immunisation programme will be targeting all children aged 0-5 years not immunized against;

AGE VACCINATIONS
Birth BCG , Hepatitis B
6 weeks Pentavalent 1, Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) 1, Pneumococcal 1, Rotavirus 1
10 Weeks Pentavalent 2, Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) 2, Pneumococcal 2, Rotavirus 2
14 weeks Pentavalent 3, Pneumococcal 3, Intravenous Polio Vaccine (IPV) 1
9 months Measles Rubella 1, Typhoid Vaccine , Intravenous Polio Vaccine (IPV) 2
18 months Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (DTP), Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), Measles Rubella 2
5 years Tetanus (Td1)

Due and overdue vaccines will be administered to the children following the schedule. Catch up doses will be given to children who have missed their vaccinations to prevent outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases among under-fives. The aim is to reduce the likelihood of such outbreaks occurring in the City of Bulawayo.

WHERE WILL THE PIRI BE CONDUCTED?

The campaign will be conducted in all the 18 Municipal Clinics, Central hospitals, Uniformed Forces’ Clinics, Private facilities offering immunisation services and outreach points.

WHEN WILL CAMPAIGN BE CONDUCTED?

  • First Round
  • Second Round
  • Third Round

  • 30th January 2023 – 3rd February 2023.
  • End of February 2023
  • End of March 2023
