The public is advised that further to the Press adverts that stated closure of one side of the road on Birkenhead and temporarily converted the remaining one into a two way to facilitate replacement of sections of a bulk sewer mains, the project now necessitates total road closure in order to complete the remedial works and excavations.
This is to avoid any traffic accidents that may result from the earth pilings which are now encroaching on the side that has been carrying the traffic to date. Birkenhead Road in Belmont shall therefore be closed between Josiah Chinamano up to Westgate turnoff from Friday 22nd of April 2016 to Monday the 23rd of May 2016.
Council encourages motorists to use alternative roads.
City Council wishes to apologise to motorists and the general public for the inconvenience likely to be caused during the interval.
