WATER DISCONNECTIONS INDUCEMENTS

The City of Bulawayo would like to advise its valued customers that Council staff members carrying out water disconnection for debt recovery are under instruction NOT TO ACCEPT ANY NEGOTIATIONS NOR ACCEPT ANY PAYMENT OR BRIBE WHILE CARRYING OUT THEIR DUTIES. Nor are they permitted to request, accept or receive an inducement not to carry out their duties of disconnecting supplies from clients. Bribery results in double loss by the customer as Council will still insist on debt recovery even after payment of bribes.

Customers can contact our Call Centre on 08084700 (Econet Numbers only); 08004700 (Telone Numbers Only, 0774 668 432 (WhatsApp only) or 02922 71290 (for all networks) if they are coerced by Council staff to pay an inducement to spare them from being disconnected.

Staff members are also instructed to report clients who offer such inducement/ bribes. This will allow Council to investigate and to institute criminal charges against such clients. The valuable information you supply is strictly confidential.

OFFERING OR DEMANDING A BRIBE IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE which may result in both parties being arrested and charged by the courts.

You can have the peace of mind of having constant supply of water and other services if you keep your account up to date or enter into and abide by the PAYMENT PLAN.

Water is life.
