Libraries Services

The Bulawayo City Council administers the Bulawayo Municipal Library Service (BMLS) in its Education Section within the Department of Housing & Community Services.

Currently there are nine (9) libraries strategically situated in the densely populated Western areas of the city. The BMLS is managed by the Senior Librarian who is based at Mzilikazi Memorial Library, the Main Branch. In each library there is a Branch Librarian who takes charge of the day to day running of each station. Due to public demand and the popularity of the service, plans are already in an advanced stage to build five more libraries. Mzilikazi Library now has an upmarket Internet cafe and a similar service might be introduced at other branches.
