The following position has arisen within the City of Bulawayo:

1. Main Responsibilities /Job Summary
  • • Liaises with Municipal technical departments with regard to Community Services and amenities to be provided to the stakeholders.
  • • Drafts a wide range of reports to Council Committees.
  • • Liaises with various Community organisations, Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Ministry of Sport, Ministry of Cultural Affairs and other stakeholders
  • • Approves and recommends Capital and Revenue budget estimates in collaboration with Council’s treasury Directorate
  • • Implements Council decisions relating to the Branch.
  • • Plans and implements strategic plans for the Branch.
  • • Supervises sections in the Branch, namely Women’s Groups, School Leaver Training Programmes, Co-operative Development, Amenities, Youth Services, Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Pre Schools, Libraries, Social and Council Committees.
  • • Attends meetings of Council Committees
  • • Represents Council at various fora like conferences, workshops, seminars etc.
2. Qualifications Requirements
  • • Degree in Social Sciences / Public Administration/Management/Business Studies or equivalent.
  • • Master in Business Administration or equivalent
  • • Membership to appropriate professional bodies
  • • Clean class 4 driver’s licence.
3. Experience and Skills
  • • At least 7 years working experience in the operations of Community Services and social amenities.
  • • Thorough knowledge of the country’s Education System and relevant Acts of Parliament.
  • • Strong communication skills.
  • • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
  • • Computer literacy.
